A Christian's Hope

The concept of climate change is often linked to environmental phenomena such as rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, and the impact of human activities on the Earth's ecosystems.

It is interesting that in the Book of Revelation, chapters 6 to 18 depict a series of catastrophic events that are often interpreted as End Times disasters. These calamities include earthquakes, famines, extreme heat, and other natural disasters that can be seen as analogous to climate change predictions.

"And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory." Revelation 16:9

I believe, during the End Times, one reason some may not repent (Revelation 9:20-21) is because they will attribute the calamities to climate change, not realizing that they are God's righteous judgement of sin.

The Primary Focus

Being believers, we understand that the catastrophes of the "End Times" will originate from God. That is why it is crucial to spread the gospel.

While it is vital for us to be good stewards of God's creation and to act responsibly towards the environment, our primary focus as Christians should be on proclaiming the hope of the gospel. The message of salvation through Jesus Christ is the ultimate hope for humanity, offering redemption and eternal life that transcend the temporal concerns of this world.

Therefore, while we should strive to live in harmony with nature, we must remember that the salvation of souls is our ultimate goal. It is through sharing the love of Christ and the hope of the gospel that we can bring about true transformation in individuals and societies.

Those who have put their faith in Jesus (aka believers/saints) will be saved from God's wrath. Praise the LORD!

False Converts in the End Times

I believe false converts will also blaspheme God during the End Times. They will discover that the "god" they serve, whose only attribute is love, does not exist.

Many religious leaders only talk about God's love. This has led to the false conversion of many who have no idea why we need to be saved and pursue holiness. Instead, they felt goosebumps, repeated a prayer, and then were told they were saved.

Priority Should Be Given to Salvation Over Climate Change

No amount of climate change activism can prevent God's impending judgment on the sins of humanity.

We need salvation from “wrath” meaning saving from God’s judgment of sin (Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:9). Our sin has created a separation from God, and the result of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Salvation in the Bible signifies our deliverance from the consequences of sin, which entails the eradication of sin. We are rescued from both the power and punishment of sin.

God has rescued us through Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17). Specifically, it was Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection that achieved our salvation (Romans 5:10; Ephesians 1:7). Scripture is clear that salvation is the gracious, undeserved gift of God (Ephesians 2:5, 8) and is only available through faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9-10).

After salvation, we are commanded to pursue holiness (sanctification) through a life that pleases our Father in heaven (Ephesians 5:1-5; 1 Peter 1:15-16).

The Right Perspective

A Christian's perspective on climate change should be rooted in Scripture with wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit. While we acknowledge the importance of environmental stewardship, our ultimate calling is to proclaim the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. By aligning our actions with the values of the gospel, we can contribute positively to God's creation and the redemption of humanity.

May the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you.
