Why You Don’t Have to Be Hopeless…

From the very beginning, humanity has longed for peace, justice, and safety. But no government, ruler, or system has ever been able to give it.

Nations rise and fall. Leaders promise change but end up repeating the same old story: pride, greed, corruption, and war.

As Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:9,

“That which has been is what will be… there is nothing new under the sun.”

Every government today is filled with division and frustration. No nation on earth has a 100% satisfied people. Why? Because man’s heart is broken by sin. The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9,

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.”

That’s why every form of human government - whether a monarchy, democracy, dictatorship, or republic - ends up showing the same problem: sinful people in power will always abuse that power.

And when the world finally does come together under one global leader, Scripture warns us that it won’t be under a righteous man but under the Antichrist.

Paul wrote in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 that this man “opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God.” He will deceive the nations and bring about the darkest time in human history - a false peace that ends in destruction.

People everywhere are anxious and angry, demanding that governments fix what only God can fix. But the Bible tells us clearly that Satan is the one fueling this chaos and deception (1 John 5:19).

Yet there is hope - real hope - not in politics or human effort, but in Christ alone. Jesus said in John 16:33,

“In this world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The apostle John saw what’s coming: “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth” (Revelation 21:1).

In that perfect world, there will be no more war, corruption, or tears - only peace and righteousness forever. But only those who are in Christ will dwell there.

So while the world groans in hopelessness, God’s people are never hopeless. Our hope isn’t in the White House, the United Nations, or any throne of man - it’s in the throne of God.

As Psalm 146:3-5 reminds us,

“Do not put your trust in princes… Happy is he whose hope is in the Lord his God.”

In the end, Christ - not man - will bring the lasting peace this world has always longed for. Until then, we stand firm in faith, looking up, for our redemption is near.
