Monday Reminder: Don’t Let the Seed Get Snatched

Good morning—new week, new mercies!

But let me ask you something simple to start your Monday: Did you go to church yesterday?

In Matthew 13:4, Jesus said,

“And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.”

That verse is part of what many know as the Parable of the Sower. It reminds us that when God’s Word is shared—whether by reading Scripture or hearing a sermon—some of it doesn’t even get a chance to take root.

Jesus said the seed that falls by the wayside is snatched up by the enemy before it can grow.

For many, Sunday becomes a check-the-box moment. Go to church, sing a few songs, sit through the sermon, and then move on with the rest of the day. But the Word was never meant to be background noise. It’s a seed, and seeds are meant to grow.

God gives the gift of teaching to pastors and Bible teachers—men and women who spend hours preparing not just to speak, but to feed the souls of those God sends to hear them.

That message you heard wasn’t random. God wanted to speak something to you. Did you catch it? Did you write anything down? Do you remember the point?

Because the truth is, the enemy isn’t waiting until Friday to distract you. He started the moment you left church. He’s already working to choke out what God planted.

That’s why remembering the message, praying it into your heart, and carrying it into your week matters.

So let this Monday be more than just a fresh start for tasks and goals. Let it be a reminder to guard the seed God gave you yesterday. Go back and reflect. Revisit your notes—mental or written.

And as you start your week, don’t just focus on what you want from God. Take time to remember what He’s already done for you, year after year.

You’ve made it this far by His grace. Now let His Word grow roots in your heart so this week can bear real fruit.

Have a blessed and productive week—one that’s not just busy, but spiritually anchored.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
