Let's Face It, We're Not Getting Younger

If it be the Lord's will, I will soon turn 46. While I'm not considered old, my body frequently reminds me that I'm no longer 20!

Yes, a long life is a desired blessing, but the ailments and required changes that come with that are quite the opposite.

Although our bodies may be aging, our God remains the same.

Our Father in heaven has carried us throughout every stage of our lives thus far, and He will continue to carry us in the stages to come.

God Is With His People (Isaiah 46)

ree

In Isaiah 46, God reminds His people that idols and false gods are powerless.

The idols of Babylon, Bel, and Nebo were being taken away by the Persians, and as the tired beasts carried them on the carts, the manmade idols fell over.

These gods could not even save themselves, let alone the people.

God reminded them that He has been caring for them since they were born and that He will continue to be their God throughout their lifetime, even as their hair turns white with age.

Well, the same God of Israel is the same God to all those who trust in His Son Jesus for salvation (Acts 10:34-43; Galatians 3:23-29). The same God also becomes our Father (Romans 8:15-17).

Jesus' Reassuring Words for Us

ree

Jesus puts it this way in Matthew 6: Do not worry.

If God cares for birds and flowers without any effort on their part, how much more does He care for you?

Jesus teaches us to prioritize seeking the kingdom of God and living righteously, assuring that God will provide all necessities.

By focusing on the present and trusting in God's care, worries about the future are unnecessary.

This promise extends to our old age, even when our hair turns gray.

Conclusion

May this message be a reminder and an encouragement that God has not forgotten about you, regardless of your age.

He knows every challenge you face.

Just as He has been with you so far, He will continue to carry you and supply every need according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

May the grace and peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you.
