A Response to the Mocking of Jesus Christ at the 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony in France.

Neither Surprising nor Coincidental

The drag queen mockery of Jesus Christ at the 2024 Olympic opening ceremony greatly upset, as expected and possibly intentionally, many who go by the name "Christian."

However, to true followers of Jesus Christ who read the Bible, this is neither surprising nor coincidental.

Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ and His followers are hated by the world, and the one who deceives the world is the devil (Matthew 10:22; John 15:18; Revelation 12:9).

The Reason for the Hatred of Jesus Christ

The only way to be rescued from God's coming judgement of the world (Revelation chapters 6 to 20) is by placing faith in Jesus Christ, alone, for salvation (John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 10:9).

Therefore, it is not surprising that the devil, who roams around like a lion seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8), despises the only One, Jesus Christ, who can rescue us from everlasting punishment in the lake of fire alongside the devil (Revelation 20:10; Revelation 20:15).

What Would Jesus Do?

Jesus asked the Father to forgive those who mocked, ridiculed, and crucified Him (Luke 23:34). Indeed, He died and was resurrected from the dead to save us all.

He also teaches His followers, in Matthew 5:44-46, to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us.

By doing so, we demonstrate our likeness to our Father in heaven who shows kindness to both the righteous and the unrighteous, providing sunlight and rain to all.

May those who mocked Him during the Olympic ceremony, by the Holy Spirit, come to acknowledge Him as their Lord and Savior, just as Paul the Apostle did (1 Timothy 1:13), and serve as witnesses to His incredible love, mercy, and grace.
